The strong department of Theological Studies moves to Bates College in Lewiston, Maine

In an era when small Christian schools with adequate funding developed into liberal arts colleges (e.g., the Charity School became Dartmouth College), New Hampton doubled down on its commitment to secondary education by expanding its professional-level department of Theological Studies at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine (1870). The school was then free to focus on the traditional academic curriculum utilizing innovative methods of instruction.

An independent, college preparatory school for boarding and day students, grades 9-12 and postgraduate.
