Welcome back! As we prepare for another great year at New Hampton School, we are aware that this 2020-2021 school year will come with a few caveats. But that doesn’t mean that there won’t be plenty of fun! So, instead of focusing on some of the things we can’t do, we have compiled a list of activities our students can enjoy on our sprawling campus, while still maintaining a safe distance.

 1. Biking on the Blood Property

Did you know that New Hampton School’s campus offers over 10 miles of cross country mountain biking trails? We are lucky to call the White Mountains home so whether you want to take a spin around our quaint town center or tackle the mountain biking terrain, make sure to bring your wheels to school this year!

2. Hiking Up Burleigh Mountain

If biking isn’t your thing, consider going for a hike up Burleigh Mountain instead. Atop this campus treasure is the perfect place for peeping the fall foliage and taking a snap. The field by the Alpine Tower is also a relaxing spot for small groups to hang out, play games, and relax.

3. Take a Dip in one of the Ponds

Before the weather cools down too much make sure to get outside and enjoy the final moments of summer. Enjoy a splash in the upper or lower pond right here on campus and relax shore-side while you listen to your favorite tunes. It’s a great way to enjoy the sunshine!

4. Art Time Outside

“En plein air” is the art of painting outdoors. Our art studios are packed with supplies so grab your favorite medium and head out into the fresh air to get creative and bring your vision to life.

5. Sit and Sip on Academic Row

New this year, the Country Store will be offering an option to order online! So after grabbing your beverage of choice, take a seat and lounge in one of the many Adirondack chairs on Academic Row to laugh and chat with friends.

6. Doubles on the Tennis Courts

New Hampton School boasts 9 modern tennis courts that are perfect for getting active and enjoying the outdoors. Bring your favorite racket and you will be ready for a little friendly competition.

7. Get Crafty on the Dog Pound Patio

Grab your pals and some of your favorite supplies and start crafting. Embroidery, needlepoint, knitting, and crocheting are all super popular right now and there is no better way to lose time than to dive into a fun crafting project.

8. Book Club Under the Big Tree

In today’s world, there are plenty of topics to discuss and reflect upon with a group of peers. Weave literature into these topics or escape from reality with a fictional novel that will transport you and the other members of your club to an alternate place and time. No matter what your genre, the new Gordon-Nash Library is sure to have a title to get your wheels spinning.

9. Get Mindful in the New Health & Wellness Center

As the construction crews put the finishing touches on the two-level Health and Wellness Center in the Lower Gym, prepare to get mindful in our new yoga studio! This fresh new space with state-of-the-art finishes will leave you feeling centered before you can say “namaste”!

10. Gardening in the Greenhouse

The greenhouse on campus is maintained by our Farm Team and produces an array of greens, herbs, and vegetables. From weeding and mulching to the final harvest of these yummy veggies, this activity is delish.
