Every Gift Matters, Because Every Student Matters

Philanthropy and charitable giving have always played an essential role in the development of New Hampton School. This generosity has taken many forms, whether we think of John Kelley Simpson’s initial gift of $10,000 to found New Hampton in 1821 or contributions of $100 by parents who sacrifice a night out to show their support for the school or gifts of $10 by recent graduates who want to honor a teacher or coach. It doesn’t matter how many zeroes are attached to a donation. What matters is the care and selfless motivation behind each and every gift.

A gift to The Fund for New Hampton supports all areas of student life—in the classrooms, on the game fields, and so much more.

What Does A Gift Support

Several times a year, New Hampton School asks its alumni, parents, and friends to contribute to The Fund for New Hampton, which is the school’s annual fund. Last year The Fund raised more than $950,000 from more than sixteen hundred donors. Collectively, these many gifts supported supplies for classrooms, houses, and dining hall; it expanded streaming options for viewing our athletic teams; funded new equipment in the art department; and, perhaps most importantly, tuition assistance for students who would not otherwise be able to attend the school.

The cost of a New Hampton School education is always greater than what the school charges for tuition; tuition income does not (and has never) covered all the costs associated with a year of schooling. The Fund for New Hampton helps fill that gap annually, and this year, we hope to do much of that on November 2, New Hampton School’s Day of Giving.

Advisory groups were organized on Founder’s Day this year for a day of service-learning with neighbors and neighboring communities.

Save The Date

Please save the date and be part of the school’s long and ongoing legacy of educating young people who learn to think critically and to put others before themselves. Make a donation of any size on or before November 2, and your gift will be generously matched by an anonymous donor who also knows that every gift matters. From its founding in 1821 to the present day, the early members of our community and their many acts of generosity created a school full of life, hope, and a commitment to educating young people to better their world. When you give to The Fund for New Hampton on the Day of Giving (or any day), your gift supports the school’s students, teachers, staff, and programs.
