New Hampton School is excited to announce that esteemed English faculty member, coach, advisor, and house parent Bo Cramer is the featured speaker for the 199th Convocation. As part of a new tradition at New Hampton School, the faculty member honored with the O’Connor Excellence in Teaching prize at the conclusion of each academic year receives the distinction of speaking during Convocation. Their voice helps lend tone and structure for the year ahead in conjunction with words from our Head of School and the student selected all-school theme.
The O’Connor Excellence in Teaching Prize recognizes a faculty member selected as a strong contributor by demonstrating such attributes as; setting the highest standard for his or her students while not abandoning them to their own resources; nurturing students inside and outside the classroom; and demonstrating a commitment to the student, the school, and the art of teaching. Current students nominate a teacher who is caring, inspiring, and represents the best of New Hampton School.

O’Connor Distinguished Teaching
With this recent award, Mr. Cramer is recognized as a role model for both our students and faculty. Described as positive, energetic, and thoughtful, he demands the best of his students. Through constructive feedback, he helps students grow their public speaking and analytical writing skills. One student commented, “Despite English not being my favorite subject, my love for it grew in the year that he has been my teacher. I learned a lot about myself and my own abilities and passions through a teacher who is incredibly driven and insightful himself. He has continuously pushed me to be a better version of myself, even beyond the classroom.”
Mr. Cramer is accessible to his students, challenging in the classroom, and passionate about education. Outside of the classroom, he is an outstanding house parent for Veazy House and a respected coach in golf and basketball. His all-around positive presence on campus has endeared him to years of current students.
We look forward to hearing Mr. Cramer’s remarks during Convocation on Sunday, September 1 at 4 pm.
