Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on Google+

Reunion Weekend is only 99 days away! With registration launching earlier this month, we can feel the excitement building—four days of events, monumental celebrations, and endless opportunities to reconnect. One of the good challenges of such a significant weekend is the number of options to choose from each day. Will you spend a morning with friends catching up or join a tour and a class? The choice is yours. To help with your planning, we will be highlighting a few signature events over the next few months.

Today, in part one of this blog series, we explore the Vintage Tennis Tournament, a history-filled walking tour, and a musical reunion. We look forward to sharing more soon. Be sure to view the schedule, register, and reach out with any questions.

Vintage Tennis Tournament
Friday, June 3 at 9:30 am

Join long-time faculty member and tennis program director Veronica Lima-De Angelis P’01, ’03 for a rousing game of tennis with alumni and former faculty. Bring your wooden racquets and dress in a vintage color scheme of white or beige for this event. A reception follows on the nearby patio named in honor of this legendary coach.

Don’t miss this opportunity to reconnect with a beloved faculty member and coach and relive your days at the Bicknell Tennis Courts. And, of course, Lima is working with an international colleague to provide each player with a unique keepsake of this vintage game. You won’t want to miss this event!

200 Years of History: A Walking Tour
Friday, June 3 at 11 am and Saturday, June 4 at 1:00 pm
Led by Jerrica Blackey P’19 and Kent Bicknell ’65

As you travel on foot, you are in good hands visiting school and town landmarks with two of New Hampton School’s most knowledgeable Husky Historians. Jerrica and Kent have conducted extensive research into our School’s history and are excited to share fun facts and stories focusing on our School’s unique and rich history during a leisurely stroll back through time. The tour will begin with a brief visual presentation introduced by these dynamic tour guides. The final stop on this walking adventure will be at the newly renovated Gordon-Nash Library.

Jerrica Blackey P’19 is the Director at Gordon-Nash Library and the School Archivist. Kent Bicknell ’65 is the former Head of Sant Bani School and currently the Curator of Special Collections at the Gordon-Nash Library.

Alumni Music Collaboration
Saturday, June 4 at 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Rehearsals on Friday, June 3

Music has been an integral part of New Hampton School’s history since its earliest days, with a group of students presenting a signed petition to the School’s administrative leaders asking to launch a music program at what was at the time known as New Hampton Academy. The legacy of musical talent is long. This year—thanks to Director of Music Kyle Masterson—a unique opportunity is available to alumni and faculty alike to come together in a musical collaboration during Reunion Weekend.

Did you play an instrument or sing while a student? Would you like to join fellow alumni for an informal musical collaboration during Reunion Weekend? Kyle is organizing some of his former students and invites fellow alumni to get together to play music, sing, and enjoy some musical camaraderie during lunch on Saturday, June 4. Rehearsals will take place on Friday morning (9:30 am – 11 am) and Friday afternoon (3:00 pm – 4:30 pm) so that everyone has a chance to connect or reconnect ahead of Saturday’s musical performances under a canopy just outside of Memorial Dining Hall. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rekindle your musical talents that were quite possibly discovered and nurtured during your student days at New Hampton. For more details, contact Cindy Buck, Bicentennial Coordinator, or Kyle Masterson, Director of Music.
