What is #GivingTuesday?
#GivingTuesday marks the start of the charitable season. On the heels of Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is a special opportunity to include the gift of giving during the holiday season. As individuals, families, and organizations highlight their philanthropic priorities with gifts to schools, hospitals, charities, and institutions, we are reaching out to our friends and families for their support.
When we ask donors, parents, students, faculty and staff to share what they love about New Hampton School, they often cite the people. For us, #GivingTuesday is about celebrating the rich community of students, teachers, parents, and alumni in Husky Nation.
As organizations rally their communities to demonstrate their philanthropic priorities, we invite our internal and external communities to join us in recognizing the gift of New Hampton School.
#GivingTuesday in Husky Nation
Last year, we witnessed unprecedented enthusiasm, internally and externally, on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Throughout the day, student volunteers dropped by the Alumni and Development office to make phone calls and write thank you notes. In doing so, they joined us in celebrating each gift that brought us closer to our goal.
Throughout the day, we connected with alumni across the country, parents, and friends of the school through phone calls, texts, and social media. Beloved faculty dropped by to make a few phone calls and ended up staying for hours, reconnecting with former students over the phone. Parents came in throughout the day, also helping to make phone calls and write thank you notes. The spirit of Husky Nation was evidenced by the web of participants who highlighted New Hampton School as one of their priorities, thought gifts of time, talent, and treasure.
Why Give to New Hampton School?
New Hampton School believes in service. Our school provides a service of education to our students, and our students and alumni understand the gift and fulfillment of service to others. As we engage in a national event with our school on #GivingTuesday, we are reminded of the strength and core values of our community. We look forward to celebrating all that we love about Husky Nation, and connecting with alumni, parents, and friends of the school, as we enter the holiday season.
