Parents in the House: Meet the House Heads, Part 3

Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on Google+

House Heads at New Hampton School offer leadership to other house parents, proctors, and residents. They support programming for residential life, supervision, and guidance, as well as nurturing a sense of community within the house. New Hampton intentionally focuses on a family-like experience within the houses. This is beneficial to all students, but in particular to first-time boarding students. To help parents “meet” our House Heads this year, we’re happy to share these introductions and insights in a blog series. Visit part one here and part two here.

More answers regarding residential life may be found on our website or by reaching out to the Student Life team members.

Welcome to Galletly House
House Head: Greg Ladd

Greg is a History faculty member, House Head of Galletly, and the Class of 2022 Dean. Additionally, he leads our Men’s Varsity Baseball team as Head Coach, is an Assistant Coach to the Women’s Varsity Basketball team, and the Defensive Coordinator to the Varsity Football team. He has been a faculty member since 2015.

What is your favorite part of being a House Head?

My favorite part of being a house head is feeling a sense of connection to each student in the house. Over my 4 years as a house head, I can truthfully say I have appreciated finding something in common with each student and I also learn from them and their experiences every day. In addition, I love to have to companions to watch sports with, playing video games, and eat pizza and junk food on the weekends!

What special events or activities take place at your house?

Galletly always has had an end of the year cookout and wiffleball game as a house. In addition, there are regular video game tournaments, poker games, and pizza nights throughout the entire year. The house is located in the center of campus and is therefore usually one of the liveliest and funnest places to live at New Hampton School!

Welcome to Draper House
House Head: Kevin Driscoll ’10

Kevin is a 2010 alumnus of New Hampton School, English faculty member, House Head of Draper, and an assistant coach to the Men’s Varsity Lacrosse and Soccer teams. He has been a faculty member since 2016.

What is your favorite part of being a House Head?

My favorite part of being a house head is getting to know a wide variety of different students. Draper is a large dorm and it is a blast to spend time with each student who lives here.

What special events or activities take place at your house?

Each week, we do our “Husky of the Week”  to acknowledge a resident in Draper and the students have a ton of fun with this. The proctors also hold video game competitions which is always fun to watch.

New Hampton School House Heads

Welcome to Lindsay House
House Head: Stephen Fay

Steve has been a faculty member at New Hampton School since 1993. He teaches in the Mathematics department, serves as the Class of 2021 Dean, is the House Head of Lindsay House, and coaches Men’s Varsity B Hockey and Men’s Junior Varsity Lacrosse.

What is your favorite part of being a House Head?

I enjoy working in Lindsay House where I get to know well 14 residents. I am able to guide and support their growth in our wonderful community. The opportunity offers me an incredible learning environment where the residents can feel safe and express themselves and learn more about themselves.

What special events or activities take place at your house?

Our special events are birthday celebrations and late-night House Feeds—favorites are breakfast before bed, Chip-Dip (this item has been suspended for now), and fresh fruits like tangerines, strawberries, and blueberries.
